In 2009, we launched one of India’s first Solar ATMs at our flagship branch in Opera House, Mumbai. Today, we have achieved our goal of installing 100 solar powered ATMs across the country. Through the Solar ATM program, we have successfully generated 2,32,131 kWh of solar energy to date, and avoided the emission of 269 metric tonnes (MT) of greenhouse gases (GHGs).
This project has also helped us foster rural communities and economies by improving access to banking facilities. We also educated landlords and communities about the advantages of decentralised and renewable energy technologies. An uninterrupted power supply has ensured better accessibility to our services on the same 100 ATMs and has increased the number of transaction from 25 Lakh to 38 Lakh.
As an extension of our Solar ATM program, we are investing in several roof-top solar installations at our offices across the country. Around 21,679 kWh of energy was generated through a solar installation at our premise at Karapakkam, Chennai in 2013 - 2014.
