Yasser's STORY

At the age of 8, Yasser met with a freak accident involving a husk removal machine and lost his hand. He started sport at an early age and was inspired by his coach who explained to him about para sports and started coaching him; his coach had spotted Yasser practicing Shotput with able-bodied athletes.

Yasser believes that nothing is impossible and has a strong will power which has led him to win medals at the big stage such as his bronze medal at the 2017 China Open Para Athletics Championship, his first ever international competition. His promising performance in China saw him shortlisted and eventually selected for support under the GoSports Foundation Para Champions Programme 2017-18.

Yasser discontinued studies after class 12, however he has plans to pursue Bachelors in Arts. Yasser idolises fellow GoSports athletes Amit Kumar Saroha, Rajinder Singh Rahelu and aims to equal their achievements one day. Most recently Yasser, also famously nicknamed Jassi by his friends, represented India at the 2017 IPC World Para Athletics Championships in London.
