Sachin's STORY

Sachin is a Paralympian who participated in the Games for the first time at the London Paralympics, 2012 and is one of the most experienced powerlifters in the country.

Sachin’s father is a retired police man in Meerut and Sachin’s training is partly funded by him. The remainder of his funding requirements was managed through the little profit earned through his local gym in Meerut. However due to the gym’s drastic decrease in profitability, he found himself in great financial difficulty to continue funding his training.

Coming back to sport in 2017, he won the silver medal at the 2017 IPC Powerlifting World Cup in Dubai. Sachin was selected for support in June under the GoSports Foundation Para Champions Programme 2017-18 and was the only Indian para athlete at the Commonwealth Games to win a medal.
