Suhas's STORY

Suhas first experienced the sport of badminton during his school sports camp. Earlier he used to play with able-bodied players and switched to para badminton in 2007 after learning about para sports.

In addition to pursuing sport, Suhas is also a civil servant, an IAS officer. His wife is also an officer in the state administrative service. The couple have two children. Suhas won a Gold medal at the 2016 BWF Para Badminton Championship held in China. In the same year, he was also recognised as the ‘Best Para Athlete’ by the Uttar Pradesh government.

Suhas was shortlisted and eventually selected for support under the GoSports Foundation Para Champions Programme 2017-18, after Para Badminton’s inclusion into the list of events at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. He is World No. 4 in Men’s Singles SL4.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Runners up (Singles) at the 4th Turkish Para- Badminton International-ENESCUP 2018
  • Runners up (Single & Doubles) at the Turkish International 2017
  • Gold medal in men’s singles event at the 2016 BWF Para Badminton Championship, Beijing (China). Also reached the quarterfinals in men’s doubles in the same event
