Pushpa’s father was a tea seller on a highway near Gorakhpur. Pushpa lost her mother at a tender age and it was her father who kept the family together. Despite all odds and their socio-economic background, her father continued to support her and his sole dream was an Olympic medal for Pushpa. Her father passed away in May 2019. ‘I don’t have an option but to move on, train hard and realise his dreams.’ Four years into wrestling, she has proved with medals at the Cadet Nationals in 2018, 2019, 2020 and was also part of Team India the Cadet Asian and World Championship in 2019.
