Charanjit Kaur

Charanjit Kaur has defied all odds to become a gold medalist at the World Championships, having been diagnosed with polio at the age of three in the little village of Patiala. Charanjit was the youngest of a lab technician's three daughters. She was a really brilliant sportsperson who was raised with a lot of love and pampering at home, but she had to endure a lot of discrimination at her school and training facility due to her impairment. At the age of 21, a joyful and kind Charanjeet lost her mother, who was the backbone of her life, completely devastated and depressed, she stopped participating in sports. She married in 2007 and had a child the following year. She discovered her inspiration in her child and decided to give her sporting career a fresh start in 2009, and she hasn't looked back since. Despite being a mother of a 12-year-old child, a daughter-in-law, and a wife with no income, she remains committed to her sporting goals. Her spouse has been extremely supportive and is the family's sole source of income. Charanjit already has several international medals in her name and hopes to strive harder and is determined to make the country proud by winning medals for the country in major national and international events.
