Rahul Dumpa

Rahul Dumpa used to play different sports like javelin throw, swimming, running, and karate during his school days. Ever since his life as a youngster, he wanted to turn into a naval official. Fortunately, he enlisted in the naval force as a deck trainee and later got elevated to the places of third official and second official. On March 17, 2014, while playing Holi with his loved ones, Rahul slipped and immediately became incapacitated. Because of this episode, his T5 vertebra was harmed and his T4 and T6 vertebrae were dislocated, which left him in a coma for a month. Following 2-3 months of recuperating from a trance state, he began taking physiotherapy meetings where he was acquainted with Boccia sport. Toward the beginning, he didn't give a lot of significance to Boccia as he was hoping to get relieved and carry on with a typical life. Besides, he began paying special attention to getting a job for himself as his dad took a retirement from the merchant navy so he could assist Rahul with his everyday exercises. Fortunately, he found some work in a US-based organization. Sooner or later, one of his companions, Jaspreet Singh, who is a mentor himself, proposed to him to allow an opportunity to play Boccia, yet Rahul had no clue about the game. He sent a video to Jaspreet of him tossing a tennis ball in a similar way to how it is done in Boccia. Jaspreet right away saw the potential in Rahul and chose to meet and train him. Under the guidance and training of his coach, Rahul participated in his most memorable Boccia National Championship in 2017 where he won a gold medal, followed by a silver medal in his second year. He was also shortlisted for the 2018 Asian Para Games, which were held in Indonesia, where he successfully reached the semi-finals.
