- Girl Power - Akanksha Sandeep Shinde
Akanksha Shinde a cadet (48kg) Judoka from Nashik Maharashtra won the gold medal in Commonwealth Judo Championship 2019. She first started gymnastics following her father who is a gymnastic coach & encouraged her to be active in different sports, soon she found a liking in Judo after winning a medal in her first ever judo competition & loved the Japanese sport since. Akansha's inspiration is Kayla Harrison from the USA. She came to IIS after a fellow judoka suggested her for trials. IIS’s Judo program has helped her with structured rehab, S&C programs which were major difficulties faced by her back home in Nashik. She is also keeping up with Academics as a Commerce Student & loves to watch thriller and comedy movies. Akansha now wants to up her game to the international level & play Asian, Commonwealth and Olympics and achieve a Medal for India
