Huidrom Oliviya Devi

Oliviya Devi, a Sub-junior (48kg) judoka, won bronze in the Nation School games. Coming from a challenging socioeconomic background she was delighted when selected to be an IIS athlete & trained under Senior Coach Jiwan Sharma who she looks upon as an inspiration. Initially, Oliviya faced many difficulties including a major language barrier speaking only Manipuri but at IIS she developed not only her judo but also her speaking English and Hindi. She loves the Gymnasium, swimming pool, and learning centre & her favourite area is the Judo mats area in Combat hall. She is determined to become a world-class judoka & win Gold for India at the Olympics. IIS CEO Rushdee Warley has referred to her as the bright smile of IIS since she always has a smile on her face and is always happy and chirpy.
