- Girl Power - Parignya Kasture
Parignya Dinesh Kasture from Mumbai, Maharashtra is a Junior and participates in the 57 kg weight category. She speaks Hindi, English, Marathi, and Gujarati. Her hobbies are drawing, reading, playing football, badminton, and volleyball, and also likes to watch Korean dramas. Her father is an Orthopaedic surgeon and her mother is a Physiotherapist and nutritionist. She started playing Judo as a co-curricular activity in school and wanted to learn a form of self-defence. She is motivated by winning and feeling the sport, playing without having to think about her next move, simply put - It comes naturally to her. Daria bilodid, Joshiro Maruyama and Uta Abe are her inspiration in the Judo world. Parignya recalls her first championship in 2017, an inter school competition, where she won a bronze and she liked the feeling of winning and was hungry and wanted to get the gold. The reason for which she joined IIS was she was not doing enough. She felt that she needed training partners to improve upon the game. She has suffered injuries and has sometimes lost faith, doubting herself but she is overcoming all obstacles with the right attitude. IIS is supporting her with rehab for her injury. Her comments on IIS facilities are " The knowledge and information that is provided by IIS is ensuring we stay in our best possible physical and mental state". She aims to win a Junior Asian Championship gold and also to win a gold at the Senior World Championship.
