IndusInd Bank e-Secure is a new protocol from IndusInd Bank in association with Visa and MasterCardĀ® that lets you shop online securely with your existing IndusInd Bank Credit Card, which may be used only on merchant websites that subscribe to services of "Verified By Visaā„¢" (VbV) or "MasterCardĀ® SecureCodeā„¢" respectively.

IndusInd Bank e-Secure confirms your identity through a simple check process when you make online purchases. IndusInd Bank e-Secure Service provides you with a password to protect your online transactions just like you use your PIN at the ATM.

IndusInd Bank Credit Cards

Registration for Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode is a mandatory requirement to make online purchases using your IndusInd Bank Credit Cards on Verified by Visa / MasterCard SecureCode enabled merchant websites. IndusInd Bank e-Secure enables you to authenticate yourself at the time of purchase by using your IndusInd e-Secure Password and protects your IndusInd Bank Credit Card against misuse. Please note that if you try using your IndusInd Bank Credit Card at a merchant website that does not subscribe to Verified By Visa or MasterCard SecureCode, then the transaction will get processed as a normal online payment.

What is Verified by Visaā„¢?

The Verified by Visa is a Payer Authentication service that adds an extra layer of security when a Cardmember shops online. Verified by Visa reduces unauthorized online use before it happens by validating the Cardmember's identity with an additional password.

How does the Verified by Visaā„¢ facility work?

The Verified by Visa provides you with the ability to attach a password to your existing IndusInd Bank Visa Card to protect your online transactions, just like your PIN at an ATM. Here's how it works:

  • Select the goods or services you want from a Verified by Visa enabled online store and proceed to the payment page.
  • Enter the payment details requested including your IndusInd Bank Visa Card number.
  • The online store connects with IndusInd Bank e-Secure service site to check whether your Card is secured with Verified by Visa.
  • A Verified by Visa pop-up window will appear on your computer screen showing the merchant name, amount, date, your Credit Card number and the IndusInd Bank welcome message.
  • You are required to check that the details mentioned on the page are correct, and then enter your password. IndusInd Bank will then confirm your identity to the merchant.
  • Your payment will be authorized, the transaction will be completed as usual and your order will be placed.

How does Verified by Visaā„¢ protect me?

As your IndusInd Bank Visa Card is protected by your e-Secure password, only you can use your Card to make purchases online.

How do I register my IndusInd Bank Visa Card for the facility?

If you hold an IndusInd Bank Visa Card, you would need to authenticate yourself by entering your Card number, Card expiry date, CVV (the 3 digit number printed at the end of the signature panel on the back of the Credit Card), date of birth and then create your personal IBL e-Secure password. Thereafter, you can continue shopping on the merchant website.

What do I do in case of non-receipt of OTP?

The OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number and email address as soon as the online transaction request is received by the Bank from the merchantā€™s website. However, due to network issues there could be a delay in receipt of the OTP. To factor this, the OTP is valid for 5 minutes. In the event that you do not receive the OTP in 5 minutes, there will be an option provided to re-generate another OTP which again would be valid for 5 minutes.

If I am using an Additional or Supplementary Card, will the OTP be sent to the Primary Card holderā€™s registered mobile number and email address?

Terms and Conditions for IndusInd e-Secure service

Please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully before using IBL e-Secure service. In this Agreement, "Issuer" refers to the Financial Institution that issued your credit card i.e. IndusInd Bank ; "we," "us," and "our" refer to Issuer and its suppliers of card processing and web-hosting services; and "you," "yourā€, or "yours" refers to the Cardholder using IBL e-Secure service.

  • The Terms and Conditions set out herein are in addition to the Issuerā€™s General Terms and Conditions applicable for IndusInd Bank Credit Cards.
  • The following words and phrases shall have the following meanings in these Terms and Conditions:
    • "Card" means an international credit card issued by the Issuer in association with Visa International/American Express/ MasterCardĀ®.
    • "Cardholder" means any person holding a valid Card issued by the Issuer and who desires to make payments to the Merchant over the Internet using the Card.
    • "Merchant" means any person who owns or manages or operates the merchant establishment through a physical establishment and/or a website.
    • "Password" means the passwords, digital signatures or other means of authentication as the Issuer may specify, from time to time using which the Cardholder may make payments through the Internet using the Card in a secured manner.
    • "Registration Data" means the information asked by the Issuer in order to confirm the identity of the Cardholder before proceeding for IBL e-Secure password creation.
    • These Terms and Conditions form a contract between the Cardholder and the Issuer for use of IBL e-Secure service. By using the IBL e-Secure Service, the Cardholder shall be deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions. The Cardholder shall apply to the Issuer online for use of IBL e-Secure service by providing the Registration Data. The Issuer shall be entitled at its sole discretion to accept or reject such applications.
  • IBL e-Secure service lets you shop online securely with your IndusInd Bank Credit Card, which may be used only on merchant websites that subscribe to services of "Verified By Visaā„¢" (VbV) or "American Express SafeKeyā„  or MasterCardĀ® SecureCode security platform"
  • IBL e-Secure service enables you to authenticate yourself at the time of purchase by using your IBL e-Secure Password/OTP and protects your IndusInd Bank Credit Card against unauthorised use of your Credit Card
  • The Cardholder can create his password after verification of the Registration Data provided, for the purpose of authentication of the Cardholder.
  • Once the Issuer validates the Cardholderā€™s identity as part of the IBL e-Secure registration process, the Cardholder would be permitted to create his own Password for future transactions.
  • The Issuer shall validate the Card details provided by the Cardholder during the course of a transaction directly and the Merchant will not be privy to the same.
  • IBL e-Secure service shall be provided at the discretion of the Issuer, which reserves the right to add, revise, suspend in whole or in part any of the services provided by IBL e-Secure service, without any notice and it shall be binding on the Cardholder.
  • The Cardholder is aware that in case of payment over the Internet using his Card, the Cardholder will not sign the charge-slips at the time of making the payment. Accordingly, the Cardholder accepts that, in the event of any dispute regarding the authenticity or validity of such a payment, for any reason whatsoever, the Cardholder's account shall be liable to be debited with the amount payable if the transaction was properly authorized by the Issuer/Visa International/ MasterCardĀ®/ American Express. The Issuer shall not be liable, in any manner whatsoever, for the same.
  • Please note that if the Cardholder tries using his/her Card at a merchant website that does not subscribe to Verified By Visa or American Express SafeKeyā„  or MasterCard SecureCode, then the transaction will get processed as a normal online payment. The Issuer shall not be liable, in any manner whatsoever, for the same.
  • If the Cardholder does not successfully register for IBL e-Secure or if Cardholder chooses not to register for IndusInd Bank e-Secure, or if the Cardholder chooses not to use the OTP, the Issuer and/or the Merchant may not accept the Card to pay for an e-commerce or other transaction if such Merchantā€™s website is IBL e-Secure enabled.
  • The Cardholder shall be solely responsible for the payments made through the Internet even in the event of the Cardholder claiming non-possession of the Card. The Cardholder shall further be solely responsible for any payments made using the Card through the Internet for travel and entertainment purposes and cannot claim the invalidity of the same.
  • Any payment made on the Internet using the Cardholder's e-Secure Password/OTP shall be deemed to be an instruction duly received from the Cardholder. The IBL e-Secure Password created by him/her or the OTP requested by the Cardholder, allows the Cardholder to make payments through Internet and that the Cardholder is the sole and exclusive owner of the IBL e-Secure Password/OTP and accepts sole responsibility for use, confidentiality and protection of the IBL e-Secure Password/OTP, as well as for all payments made using such Passwords. The use of the Card by the Cardholder for making payments on the website is at the Cardholder's own risk and is the Cardholder's sole responsibility.
  • The Cardholder shall indemnify and hold the Issuer, including its officers, employees and agents, against all losses and expenses on full indemnity basis, which the Issuer may incur, sustain, suffer or is likely to suffer in connection with the execution of the Cardholder's instructions and against all actions, claims, demands, proceedings, losses, damages, costs, charges and expenses as a consequence or by reason of providing the IBL e-Secure service.
  • The Issuer has no obligation to verify the authenticity of any payment made from the Card other than by means of verification of the Cardholder's e-Secure Password/validation of the OTP sent by the Issuer.
  • All disputes, if any, arising out of or in connection with, or as a result of these Terms and Conditions or otherwise relating hereto, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts/tribunals in Mumbai only.
