Financial Inclusion – Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY)
Financial Inclusion – is delivery of banking services like availability of basic savings bank account, access to need based credit, remittances facility, insurance and pension to the excluded sections i.e. economically weaker sections of disadvantage and low income groups at an affordable cost. Financial Inclusion is a national priority of the Government as it is an enabler for inclusive growth. Financial Inclusion is important as it provides an avenue to the poor for bringing their life-savings into the formal financial system.
Objective of “Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana” (PMJDY) is ensuring access to various financial and banking services & 100% coverage of each household across county level. This deep penetration at affordable cost is possible only with effective use of technology. In order to provide much needed thrust, a flagship programme called the “Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana” was announced by Hon'ble Prime Minister in his Independence Day address on 15th August, 2014. This is a National Mission on Financial Inclusion encompassing an integrated approach to bring about comprehensive financial inclusion of all the households in the country.

- 4 % for daily balance upto Rs.1 Lakhs
- 5 % for daily balance above Rs.1 Lakhs and upto Rs. 10 Lakhs***

- After satisfactory operation of the account for 6 months, an overdraft facility will be permitted. Overdraft facility upto Rs. 5000/- is available in only one account per household, preferably lady of the household.**
