Banks nowadays offer multiple ways to help you pay credit card bills online or offline so that you can manage your payments regardless of your preference.

Paying Your Credit Card Bill Online

First, let’s explore how you can pay your credit card bill online: 

a. Mobile Application

Using your bank’s official mobile application is one of the simplest ways to pay credit card bills online. 

Follow these steps:

  1. Download and open the banking app.
  2. Log in using your credentials.
  3. Go to the ‘Credit Card’ section and select ‘Bill Payment’.
  4. Enter the payment amount (full amount, minimum due, or custom amount).
  5. Confirm your payment to complete the process.

b. Internet Banking

If you are more comfortable with desktop banking, here’s how to make your credit card bill payment using internet banking:

  1. Log into your bank’s internet banking portal.
  2. Navigate to the ‘Credit Card’ section.
  3. Select ‘Pay Credit Card Bill’ or other similar-named section and make the payment. 
  4. Enter the payment amount and confirm your transaction.

If you have multiple credit cards with the same bank, ensure to choose the correct one for the bill payment. You will get multiple options, such as a RuPay Credit Card or Platinum Credit Card or others; choose the one you need to pay the bill for. 

c. IMPS and NEFT

You also have the option to pay your credit card bills online through IMPS/NEFT. Just follow these steps: 

  1. Log into your bank’s online banking portal.
  2. If you are using NEFT, add your credit card as a ‘biller or a beneficiary’ by using your credit card and bank details.
  3. Once added, go to the fund transfer section and select ‘send to beneficiary’.
  4. If using IMPS, opt for the ‘Merchant Payment’ tab and add the required details. 
  5. Enter the amount and confirm your payment.

d. Auto-Debit

To avoid missing payments, you can set up an auto-pay system directly from your bank account:

  1. Log in to your internet banking account or mobile app.
  2. Go to ‘Auto-Debit Setup’ in the credit card section.
  3. Choose to pay either the full balance or the minimum due.
  4. Confirm your auto-debit preferences and authorise the transaction.
  5. Your credit card bill will be paid automatically on the due date each month.

Paying Your Credit Card Bill Offline

If you prefer the conventional approach for credit card bill payment, here are a few offline methods: 

a. Paying Cash at the Branch

Here’s how to pay your credit card bill in cash at your bank branch:

  1. Visit your nearest bank branch with your cash and credit card details.
  2. Fill out a cash deposit form, including your credit card number.
  3. Submit the form and cash to the bank representative, who will process your payment.

b. Depositing a Cheque

If you prefer cheques to make your credit card bill payment, here’s how to do it:

  1. Write a cheque payable to your credit card issuer with your credit card details. 
  2. Fill in the amount due and sign the cheque.
  3. Drop the cheque at your bank branch or in a designated drop box.

Cheque payments may take up to 1-3 working days to process. Hence, it is advisable to do it a few days before the due date.

c. Paying Via ATMs

This is particularly helpful if you have your debit card and credit card from the same bank. Here’s how to do it: 

  1. Visit the nearest bank ATM.
  2. Insert your debit card and select ‘Credit Card Payment’ from the menu.
  3. Proceed as per the instructions displayed on the screen.
  4. Confirm your transaction to complete the payment.
